So here I am, about to graduate and head off to the "real world" (aka college) and I was stuck for the longest time on whether or not to go to UC Berkeley or SAIC (art school). I really really wanted to go to art school, but I was so afraid of where a BFA would leave me in the world that I opted for Berkeley just so I could get an academic degree. I feel like shit now, because I didn't "follow my heart," I didn't go where I really wanted to go, and now I'm thinking I might want to transfer out for Sophomore year. I am so afraid my art will suffer terribly from this (Berkeley's visual art scene is pretty bad.)

I just don't want my parents to have to support me out of college, and I admit I am used to a certain way of living (middle class) and I feel so dumb for not pursuing what I want to do and just doing whatever it takes to get a stable job. Wouldn't it be great if art made good money? Then I could do what I want to do...

PS not that I hate academics, I enjoy science and literature very much. I just prefer art over researching my whole life away. where's the creativity in that????
